Am scris un review pe un alt forum in engleza, postez si aici daca se accepta.
1. Manufacturing issues
- It definitely has manufacturing quality issues. For me, the wood panel was absolutely perfect, with no chipping or broken as in other reviews. I had problems with the plastic coffee beans container as you can see in the first image it has some issue with the plastic, looks like it melted, it's not broken. It is not necessarily a big deal to me.
- The bigger problem was the coffee beans opening/closing tab, which is metallic and it's rusted and has metal shavings all over it, see images 2 and 3.
2. Grinding pros/cons
- It's too early to tell as this is a "day 1" review for me, BUT on the very first grind, I had 18.0g in and 14.3g out (see image 4), which is not ideal, in fact, it's horrible. Looked into the spout and it definitely had huge clumping, even after blowing it multiple times, see image 5.
- The next couple of grinds were okayish, 18.2g in - 17.7g out, 18.1g in - 17.8g out, not great, not terrible. (See images 6 and 7) I'm hopeful it will perform better once I dial it in correctly. The coffee used was a lower quality medium roast for testing.
- It also made a little bit of a mess on the wooden plate next to the ground coffee container. Not a big deal, I'm not expecting $1500+ quality here. See image 8.
- The sound of the grinding, it's a very subjective measure, because I only measured it on my phone. I would need professional measurements to objectively tell the exact dBs, but for me with a phone app measured 65 - 70 dB idle and 70 - 77 dB while grinding. Nowhere near 90 dB as in other reviews. The grinder is on a wooden workspace in the kitchen.
- The dial knob is firm, but it's hard to dial it in, this will be a machine that you dial in for an espresso and leave it there for a longer period. If you want espresso, V60, french press, etc. on the same day or every other day this isn't the grinder for you, it needs a lot of experimenting with the grind size and the coffee types.
3. Tasting
- This is entirely subjective, to some it will taste awesome, to others not quite. To me it's good, I wouldn't expect the perfect coffee coming out of this machine.
Fun fact, it comes with a plastic lid too, besides the wooden one, you can also put that plastic lid on top of the blower. This is not a perfect fit like with the wooden one, it would've been nice to be a tighter fit. See image 9.
Verdict: To me, it's a good grinder and I wouldn't return it, for now. I will test it in the coming weeks and write another review.
